OnPolitics: Rep. George Santos steps down from committee assignments

Hi OnPolitics readers. We're back with updates on freshman GOP Rep. George Santos as he's making headlines yet again.

Santos announced Tuesday that he's recusing himself from his assignments on the House Small Business and Science, Space and Technology committees. But he says the move is temporary, until after the many ethical reviews of his past and campaign  wrap up.

Here's a quick refresher on the lawmaker:

He's faced mounting pressure to resign from Congress after it was revealed he lied about his resume and background.
Santos' finances are raising more questions, which prompted organizations and officials to call for campaign finance investigations.
And Santos' most recent professional history leads back to a fund federal regulators called a Ponzi scheme in a 2021 lawsuit
