There's plenty of news out there these days, but clearly nothing is more important in the white-man-o-sphere than the WOKENESS that Amazon Studios has injected into its new "Lord of the Rings" series, "The Rings of Power." |
I nearly fell off my fainting couch when I first heard the show would feature both a strong female lead character - the elven warrior Galadriel - and diverse actors, including an elf played by Ismael Cruz Córdova, who in July proudly described himself on Instagram as "Black, Latino, Puerto Rican, proud, and Elven AF." |

So I decided it's both important and in no way embarrassing that me and my adult-male friends (who are also single by choice and have time to worry about crucial matters like this) express our outrage at any attempts to make imaginary worlds reflect the real people who inhabit the actual world. |
It's a slippery slope from there to other forms of entertainment people who don't look exactly like us can relate to. Read my column to share in my despair. |
