FBI searches Trump's Mar-a-Lago home

The fallout from and reaction to federal agents' search of Mar-a-Lago – former President Donald Trump's Palm Beach, Florida, home – is expected to continue as onlookers attempt to process what has happened and what may come next. Two sources told USA TODAY that the search Monday was part of a federal investigation into allegations Trump removed classified documents from the White House when he left office. Trump has denounced that probe. Historian Matthew Dallek told USA TODAY a law enforcement agency "raiding a former president's house is stunning, period – and unprecedented. Even for Trump." Read more

Judge to hear Giuliani's request for delay in grand jury appearance

Prosecutors investigating 2020 election interference involving former President Donald Trump and allies asked a judge to force Rudy Giuliani's appearance before a Georgia special grand jury. Giuliani's lawyer said his client had not been cleared for air travel because of a recent heart procedure - despite recent photos Fulton County prosecutors cited of the witness relaxing in New Hampshire. The takeaway: Local court orders represent new markers in an investigation that is offering increasing signs of potential legal peril for Trump and his allies.

Why Giuliani? Fulton County officials have questions about his wide-ranging claims that voting systems altered Georgia ballots, while ignoring an audit that confirmed Biden's victory in the state.
Challenges from Sen. Lindsey Graham: The South Carolina senator argued that a legislative privilege shields him from a subpoena.
Who is Fani Willis? Meet the DA who could charge Trump.

Primary Tuesday in Wisconsin, Connecticut, Minnesota, Vermont

Voters in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vermont and Connecticut will head to the polls for primary elections on Tuesday. Wisconsin's gubernatorial race is a proxy battle between former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence. In Vermont, the Democratic primary is tantamount to the general election in this liberal state, and Tuesday's contest will very probably decide who will be the state's first-ever female U.S. House member. Minnesota will also hold a special election to to replace U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn, R-Minn., who died in February at the age of 59 after a battle with kidney cancer.  Read more

CHIPS Act to be signed into law amid criticism on immigration

President Joe Biden is scheduled to sign a bipartisan bill into law Tuesday that would boost domestic manufacturing of computer chips. Congress passed the bill, known as the CHIPS (Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors) Act, last week. The bill provides more than $52 billion in grants and other incentives for the semiconductor industry as well as a 25% tax credit for those companies that invest in chip plants in the U.S. But some advocates said the bill is incomplete without immigration provisions. Some are concerned there are not enough highly skilled workers in the USA as it expands microchip manufacturing.
