The Daily Money: Is the housing market in a recession or correction?

Experts agree the housing industry is in the midst of a slowdown. But there's debate on whether to classify it as a correction or recession. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Happy Tuesday, readers. It's Brett Molina back again with your top Daily Money headlines.

Have you been enjoying a bump in your credit score? Expect those boosts to slow down. For the first time in more than a decade, Americans' FICO scores held steady at 716 year-over-year from April 2021 to last year.

So does that mean a recession is near? Maybe. Experts tell USA TODAY it's too soon to tell. In fact, a shift in how scores are moving won't predict a recession but will signal that it's already happened.

And a friendly reminder: A FICO score between 670 to 739 is considered good, 740 to 799 is very good, and anything above that is exceptional. A FICO score below 670 is either considered fair or poor.

🏠 Housing market: Recession or correction?

Make up your mind, housing industry. Are you in a recession or correction? While many experts agree there is a major drop-off in activity since reaching its early-pandemic peaks, there is debate on the current slowdown hitting the housing market. Most importantly, though, experts agree the housing market is nowhere close to the crash during the 2008 Great Recession.
