Happy Thursday, Talking Tech readers! It's Brett Molina back with another round of tech headlines. |
Earlier this month, Amazon confirmed plans to acquire primary care group One Medical for $3.9 billion. This begs an important question for any of us (more likely all of us) frustrated by our health care system: Can Big Tech like Amazon fix it? |
Tech columnist Jennifer Jolly weighed a world where Amazon is more involved in health care, and it's more than just "free eye exams with your Amazon Prime subscription." |
The pros: First, speed and efficiency, because we all would love to save time spent in waiting rooms. Also, it's possible those health services many of us rely on could cost less. |
The cons: How comfortable would you feel handing over all your health data to Amazon, or Apple, or any other tech giant? Then what happens when all our data is concentrated in a handful of companies? |
Let me hear your thoughts on this. You can hit me up on Twitter. |
What else happened in tech? |
New Pokémon games coming soon. Here's one more look at Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. |
Look out, cable. Verizon and T-Mobile have gained millions of subscribers. |
More layoffs in tech. Robinhood cuts 23% of its workforce as fewer people use the trading app. |
The end of an era. Sheryl Sandberg steps down as COO of Facebook parent Meta. |
Thursday's tech tip |
Feel like you're spending too much on subscriptions? Yep, me too. However, there are ways you can save money by checking out which companies offer family plans or special bundles. |
One more thing |
If you love Taco Bell, then this is without question the biggest news of the week: The Mexican Pizza is coming back. For good. |
Thanks for reading! Until next time. |
