Happy Thursday! Here's what we have for today: |

OMG, RIP CNN+. We hardly knew ye. |
Seriously, we literally hardly knew ye, because ye came and went so fast. If you took the time to say "CNN-plus" out loud, you might've missed the entire life of the news network's much-ballyhooed, multi-million-dollar streaming service. On Thursday, the company announced CNN+ will shut down April 30, sending shockwaves through the online-o-sphere. |
CNN Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Licht said in a statement: "We appreciate all of the work, ambition and creativity that went into building CNN+, an organization with terrific talent and compelling programming. But our customers and CNN will be best served with a simpler streaming choice." |

In assessing whether the fatal police shooting of Patrick Lyoya, an unarmed Black motorist in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was legally justified, it would be a grave mistake to look simply at whether the officer was scared when he decided to shoot Lyoya in the back of the head. We must examine the officer's decision in context. |
This shooting is not an isolated incident. Michigan, like other states, has an ugly history of racial profiling and unjustified police shootings of Black men. Ten years ago, eight police officers in Saginaw surrounded then gunned down Milton Hall, a Black man with a mental disability, even though Hall posed no serious threat to the officers. |
Likewise, the ACLU has sued the Grand Rapids police multiple times in recent years for racial profiling. |

Is inflation on the downslide? Some claimed that the dire inflation numbers last week came with a ray of hope. |
Bank of America analysts said inflation has "likely peaked." Reuters also reported that inflation has likely peaked. Forbes tells us that experts believe inflation has topped out, and that consumer inflation likely peaked in March. Investor's Business Daily and MarketWatch also say we are "likely" at the summit. |
That is good news, if true. But we have heard it before. |
