Former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes was convicted on four counts of fraud and conspiracy Monday, ending a lengthy trial that has captivated Silicon Valley. From 2010 to 2015, Holmes was a Silicon Valley sensation, and her fortune was once estimated at $4.5 billion. |
She had raised $900 million in funding based on a false promise that Theranos' technology would revolutionize health care with simple, cheap and easily accessible blood testing, requiring only a finger prick instead of multiple vials of blood to check for multiple health issues. Holmes, 37, could face up to 20 years in federal prison. |
