Wednesday, September 1

Hi and welcome to the halfway point in your week. It's Nathan here with you again!

Altogether with me now: Let's all agree not to panic buy this time.

Apparently some retailers in areas hard-hit by the delta variant are running short on toilet paper.

Nonetheless, I don't think we're at risk of what happened early in the pandemic, when finding toilet paper was like striking oil.

Why? One of the big reasons for last year's shortages was that Americans were consuming more toilet paper sold for use at home, while the not-so-thick stuff used in public bathrooms was actually easy to come by.

This time around, many people are going to work and using the restroom in public places.

💡 INSIGHT OF THE DAY: The most common problem reported by new-vehicle buyers is related to their infotainment systems. Many want their phones to connect with their cars more seamlessly. Others say their voice recognition systems don't work well. But in general, vehicle quality continues to improve. Here's my story on the 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study and the 23 highest quality vehicles of the model year.

📰 And here are more stories you won't want to miss:

1. How can you make your home more appealing to buyers without breaking the bank? Here are nine projects that cost less than $1,000.

2. Should you rent or buy? Buying a starter home is cheaper than buying in two dozen markets.

3. Don't use ivermectin to treat COVID: Amazon is blocking some related search results.

4. Mac-and-cheese ice cream is back. And here's how to buy it.

I can't decide whether that sounds delectable or like a sign of the apocalypse
