Bobby Bowden, the legendary Florida State football coach, died this morning at age 91. |
Bowden led the football program at Florida State for 34 years and only had one losing season in that time. He also won two national championships (1993 and 1999) and a whopping 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles. |
Just a couple of weeks ago in late July, Bowden's son said he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. |
"Today we lost a legend but you never lose a legacy," said Florida State Football on its official Twitter account. |

In better news, Peyton Manning will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame yesterday in recognition of his career with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. |
While we got to celebrate his on-field accomplishments with the induction, Manning has always been a Hall of Famer to the kids that he's helped through the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Get the tissues ready, because this one's a tear-jerker. |
Jimmy Johnson, the iconic former coach of the Dallas Cowboys, also became a Hall of Famer yesterday. |
Though Johnson isn't in the Cowboys' Ring of Honor, he got to showcase the mentality that he believes made him so successful in Dallas in his enshrinement speech. |
