Simone Biles and all the Olympic opinions you'll need
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics have provided plenty of food for thought.

We're heading down the last week of the Tokyo Games and it has been one wild ride. From COVID spikes to the Simone Biles news to the actual competition, the nation has been enthralled by these Olympics.

USA TODAY Opinion has been there with the rest of you and has offered up a great menu of columns. Let's look back.

I don't want to pull out of Tokyo Games, but I've been given no choice

By Becca Meyers

The Paralympic Games are supposed to be a haven for athletes with disabilities. The one place where we are able to compete on a level playing field, with all amenities, protections and support systems in place. After COVID-19 put last year's Games in Tokyo on pause, we all expected and were forced to deal with the reality that this summer's Paralympic Games would be altered in many ways. But then I learned this summer that U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee denied a reasonable and essential accommodation for me to be able to compete at the Games.

Simone Biles is a role model for prioritizing her own mental health

By Suzette Hackney

U.S. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, adorned with bedazzled goats on her leotards, strut into competition with the pressure of living up to the GOAT acronym: the greatest of all time.

Biles proved to be just that when she decided to withdraw from the team competition Tuesday.

The most decorated gymnast in World Championships history, Biles is a hero and role model – not because she pushed through her pain for another medal but because she quit taking care of herself.

Tokyo Olympics are not a bikini showcase

By Anushay Hossain

The Olympics are supposed to be about sports. So why are we talking about what female athletes are wearing?

The latest uproar over who wore what is about German gymnasts at the Tokyo Olympics ditching their bikini-cut leotards in favor of more coverage. It comes just days after Norway's women's beach handball team was fined for choosing to wear shorts over bikini bottoms at championships in Bulgaria.
