What if the post office could bring us wine?

Good morning. It's Wednesday and we're back with the opinionated content you're looking for. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

The Shipping Equity Act could help us get wine
Good morning. It's Wednesday and we're back with the opinionated content you're looking for.

What it was easier to get wine delivered to your home? What if living on campus during COVID is actually the way to go? Hold up. What if teaching including race and racism in public school instruction was a good idea this whole time?

These are the questions being examined today. Here we go.

Let the USPS ship alcohol

The wine industry has proved that shipping alcohol is, quite simply, not a problem. It can be shipped safely and responsibly to adult consumers, with already well-established (and newly tech-enhanced) safeguards to ensure minors cannot illegally access alcohol.

Now, as the USPS continues to struggle, Congress has an opportunity to change the game by finally allowing it to ship beverage alcohol of all kinds. This would create a win-win-win for postal workers, consumers and the entire craft spirits industry, from grain farmers to distillers to manufacturers, giving millions of Americans cause to raise a glass.

Universally beneficial: Congress should pass the Shipping Equity Act

Living on campus despite COVID

Meeting the challenge of the pandemic this past year, and doing so together, for the college students across America who had the opportunity to do it will be a lesson they will draw on always.

The habits of care for one another, care for the whole community, care for traditions and care for learning itself are some of the habits at the core of making our frayed democracy work in the generation ahead.

And that is a lesson for all of higher education to remember this fall as more institutions are ready to have students right where they should be: together.

We had students live on campus despite COVID-19. Here's why it was safe.

Wait. We have more for you

We endured pandemic-like isolation before when our son was in the NICU
Florida condo collapse, whatever caused it, warns us we must adapt

Honest education can't leave out race and racism
