The Daily Money

Friday, February 19

Good morning, Daily Money readers, it's Nathan Bomey welcoming you to Friday. Let's get right to our ...

INSIGHT OF THE DAY: Retiring without a plan for steady income is obviously not ideal. But it doesn't mean you're without options, especially if you think creatively. For example, do you have more space than you need in your home? You could consider renting out part of it. Here are other tips to consider.

Now for the rest of the news ...

1. You don't have to pay a lot to get a great ride. That's the takeaway from this year's Consumer Reports Top Picks list, which ranks the 10 best vehicles you can buy for 2021.

2. Wouldn't we all love to have a Porsche 911? Of course! It's the most dependable vehicle in the entire auto industry, according to J.D. Power's newly released Vehicle Dependability Study. But the closely followed index also says that mainstream brands like Mazda and Toyota are pretty darn reliable.

3. Should any of the investors who stirred up hype for the GameStop stock face retribution? One of them is now facing a lawsuit that's seeking class-action status.

4. Speaking of GameStop, the fallout is just beginning. Members of Congress grilled the CEOs of Robinhood, Reddit and other companies entangled in the saga in a virtual hearing Thursday.

5. So far, more COVID vaccines are going to white people than Black people. CVS is hoping to change that by reaching out to people in underserved communities to help them schedule appointments.

More below.
