OnPolitics: Post impeachment. What comes next?

Oceans rise, Empires fall, It's much harder when it's all Biden's call ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Happy Presidents Day. If you're still enjoying a long weekend, bookmark this email for later. If you happen to be reading headlines, it's me, Mabinty, here to catch you up.

(A heads up: There will be a lot of Hamilton references. Yes, I am cliche. No, I don't care if you judge me 😇!)

So... What did you miss?

On Saturday, the Senate voted to acquit former President Donald Trump for a second time. It's a big deal, but not unexpected. Here's what everyone's still talking about:

Did the Democrats throw away their shot? House managers caught some grief for backing off their request for witnesses in the trial. "But listen, we didn't need more witnesses," said Stacey Plaskett, a delegate from the Virgin Island who was part of the Democratic prosecution team. "We needed more senators with spines."
Are these Senators ever gonna be president now? Despite Trump's acquittal, Republicans are dealing with the fallout. (Seven of them joined the Democrats in voting to convict Trump).
Should McConnell talk less, smile more? After the impeachment vote Saturday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a lengthy speech that Trump's "crescendo of conspiracy theories" caused the Capitol riots for which he was "practically and morally responsible." Sen. Lindsey Graham, a vocal Trump defender, said on Fox News Sunday that McConnell's words would be used against Republicans in campaign advertising next year.
Helpless?  Hardly. When it comes to his next political steps, Trump says there's a million things he hasn't done he's "only just begun."

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is wondering when we can get back to politics.

Scroll down for top headlines on Biden's next steps, and how Congress is moving forward now that impeachment is no longer hanging over their heads. I'll be back tomorrow.

Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now. —Mabinty
