Helping to End Homelessness
Through Running

Alonzo Harris started running with Back on My Feet in October 2018. Since then, he has logged over 330 miles on the road to making a better life for himself. Back on My Feet is an organization that incorporates running into its program to end homelessness in 13 major cities in the United States. We followed Alonzo on a marathon training run in New York City.

Planting 111 Trees Every Time
a Girl Is Born

In many parts of India, baby boys are favored over girls, who—due to the dowry system—can be seen as a financial burden on families. But the people of Piplantri are fighting this prejudice. In Piplantri, villagers celebrate the birth of their girls by planting 111 trees for each infant. The ritual began after Shyam Sunder Paliwal lost his teenage daughter, Kiran, and planted a tree in her honor. Today, he is leading the charge to ensure the girls of Piplantri are protected from harm and educated so they can grow up to be independent and self-sufficient.

The year is 1993, it's Saturday morning, and you're ready to party all weekend long. First up: park yourself in front of the TV for a round of cartoons—our favorite is "Animaniacs." Next up, let your inner Picasso loose on some Perler beads. And finally, end the weekend with a bang with an epic game of laser tag. We're taking you to a weekend full of throwbacks. Come along and get nostalgic with us.
