This week kicked off debates for the 2020 election cycle. It was a wild ride. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

This week kicked off debates for the 2020 election cycle. It was a wild ride.

Good morning On Politics readers. We're ending one of the most eventful weeks in lead-up-to-2020 election land. Presidential primaries don't begin until February, but nearly two dozen hopefuls took the podium Wednesday and Thursday in televised debates. Was it informative? Yes. Was it meme-able? Sure was.

Who is the political world buzzing about? Who earned top marks?

For those taking a break from the live-Tweeting, here's the quickest way to get caught up:

A much-needed interactive guide to all of the politicians running for president.
An analysis of the candidate field, a diverse group that spans more than a generation in age.

And onto Debate Number One...

What we're talking about, in one paragraph:

Cory Booker glared at Beto O'Rourke after O'Rourke spoke in Spanish on the podium, stealing Booker's thunder. Bill De Blasio cut everyone off #newyork. Julian Castro and O'Rourke argued over immigration. Amy Klobuchar put the President on blast , saying, "I don't think we should conduct foreign policy in our bathrobe at 5 in the morning." And much, much more...

Want a play-by-play? Here's everything that went down at the inaugural debate of the 2020 election cycle.
Here were the winners and losers of the night. Oh, and were there losers...
Who flunked and who got an A grade? Our Opinion editors score each candidate.
Trump's assessment? "BORING!"

And for Debate Number 2 ...

Really, where do we even start.

Kamala Harris stopped a rhetorical food fight and made a powerful point about busing. Joe Biden batted back criticism from basically all over and fiercely defended his record. Eric Swalwell wanted the old guys to move out of the way. Marianne Williamson wants to call the prime minister of New Zealand. There was a lot going on.

'That little girl is me': Harris got personal talking about bussing.
Michael Bennet doesn't think gridlock is going away.
Want the play-by-play? Got you covered.
Biden and Harris went back and forth on his history with race issues.

And so the games begin, friends. Check back next Friday to see what's happened.
