Here's the biggest news you missed this weekend
North Korea missiles, the Kentucky Derby and more of the weekend's top news.

North Korea fired missiles. Trump's response? 'Deal will happen!'

After North Korea fired a barrage of missiles early Saturday, its first tests in more than a year, President Donald Trump said he remains confident in negotiations with Kim Jong Un and that a nuclear deal is still possible. Trump contended that Kim would not hurt relations between the United States and the North, saying the North Korean leader did not want to "break his promise" when it came to the testing of missiles and nuclear weapons. " Deal will happen!" Trump posted to Twitter Saturday morning. North Korea could fire more missiles in coming weeks to ramp up pressure on the United States to develop a roadmap for nuclear talks, said Nam Sung-wook, a professor at Korea University.

Fiery Moscow jet landing leaves at least 41 dead

A Russian Aeroflot jet landed in Moscow engulfed in flames Sunday, a deadly incident captured in a dramatic video. At least 41 people died in the fiery wreck , including two children, Russia's Investigative Committee announced. About seven were injured, authorities said. Video shows the plane in flames as it roars down the runway. Passengers leap onto inflatable slides and stumble away from the raging flames after the plane stops. The Sukhoi Superjet, which had 73 passengers and five crew members, requested an emergency landing, the Russian news agency Tass reported. The hard landing may have ignited the fire, Sukhoi said.

Trump's ICE pick was Obama's Border Patrol chief

President Donald Trump announced his pick for the next head of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in a tweet Sunday. Former Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan will take over ICE , the president said. Morgan ran the agency in the final year of the Obama administration before being replaced when Trump took office. Morgan's appointment requires Senate confirmation. The move is the latest at the Department of Homeland Security as the administration wrestles with an increasing number of migrants – largely Central American families seeking asylum – at the southern border.

Fair or foul? The stunning ending of the 2019 Kentucky Derby

For the first time in the Kentucky Derby's 145-year history, the winner was disqualified due to a foul during the race. Country House, a 65-to-1 long shot, won it all because Maximum Security, who crossed the finish line first, veered out of his lane and impeded with other horses around the final turn. Some, like President Trump, felt like Maximum Security was robbed, giving horse racing another black eye. Others believed that disqualifying Maximum Security was the best call. Fair or foul? Decide for yourself

Trump slams Mueller testimony planned for May 15 as a 'redo'

A "tentative date" of May 15 has been set for special counsel Robert Mueller to testify about his report on Russian efforts to sway the 2016 election, Rep. David Cicilline of the House Judiciary Committee said Sunday, later noting that "nothing has been agreed to yet." President Donald Trump slammed the plan as an attempt to "redo" the investigation, which did not find any evidence of a criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Congressional Democrats have expressed concern about Attorney General William Barr's decision not to charge Trump with obstruction of justice in the wake of the report and want Mueller's opinion on the matter.

A 138% rise in Alzheimer's

The scope of America's Alzheimer's crisis is becoming clearer: About 5.8 million Americans now have the disease, according to the Alzheimer's Association. That number will climb to at least 13.8 million by 2050, a 138% rise, and as many as 1 in 3 people 85 or older in the United States will die with Alzheimer's disease. "We are really in an epidemic ," said  Dr. Eva Feldman, director of neurology research at the University of Michigan. It's driven largely by baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964), who are growing older and coming to an age when the disease most commonly strikes.

More tariffs for China, Trump says

The economy is thriving and President Donald Trump says that success is because of — not despite — tariffs on China. And more are on the way this week, he vowed. "The 10% will go up to 25% on Friday ," Trump tweeted Sunday, referring to a 10% tariff on $200 billion in Chinese goods. Chinese officials are scheduled to resume talks in Washington on Wednesday aimed at resolving a trade war. Trump pushed back previous threats to raise the tariffs to 25% to give the U.S. more leverage in negotiations. If Trump's proposals were implemented as outlined in his tweets, a total of $575 billion in Chinese imports would be hit with a 25% tax.

Pets dead after Boeing 737 crash lands in Florida

Federal investigators were hoping Sunday that information from a flight recorder would reveal why a Boeing 737-800 rolled off the end of a Florida runway into the St. Johns River on Friday. All 143 people aboard survived the mishap at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Only one person was hospitalized – a 3-month-old baby, and only as a precaution. At least four pets traveling in the plane's luggage department are presumed dead after the bottom portion of the plane, where the pets were positioned, went under water.

Trump's collision course could pull justices into 2020 drama

President Trump is on a collision course with the Supreme Court, threatening to pull its justices into the middle of the 2020 election. Disputes over congressional subpoenas for documents and testimony, as well as legal battles over administration policies and Trump's businesses, finances and personal affairs, are moving inexorably toward a court Trump has sought to shape in his image. Most recently, Trump's vow to fight all subpoenas from House Democrats and Attorney General William Barr's refusal to testify  before a House panel have threatened to add another layer to the looming high court showdown.

It's official: 'Endgame' is bigger than 'Titanic'

"Avengers: Endgame" is now the second biggest film of all time . Disney estimated Sunday that the Marvel blockbuster hit a global box office total of $2.2 billion after its second weekend in theaters. "Endgame" is one of five movies to ever reach that mark and, not accounting for inflation, is now the second biggest film of all time worldwide behind the $2.8 billion earned by "Avatar." It bypasses James Cameron's "Titanic," which earned $2.187 billion. "Avatar" reached $2 billion in 47 days of release compared with 11 for "Endgame."
