Rest in Peace: Washington is in mourning today, as Sen. John McCain returns to the Senate for the last time to be remembered

What the White House is Talking About:
President Trump today is going to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a round of fundraising events.

What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
The services on Capitol Hill for Sen. John McCain.

McCain Services:
CNN has a special page and live feed dedicated to covering all the events surrounding the memorial and funereal services for Sen. John McCain. Today, McCain's body will lie in state inside the Capitol. Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke during today's memorial.

Biden, Tho:
Truth: Joe Biden's eulogy of John McCain yesterday in Arizona was one of the greatest speeches I've heard in quite some time.

Show of Respect:
Many veterans lined up early to get a chance to pay their respects to McCain today in Washington. This is Vietnam veteran Gary Galloway of Fort Knox, Kentucky, who, when asked why he was there today, told a Getty Images journalist, "We were brothers. All military people are brothers when it comes down to it."

Trump Says Sessions is Safe, For Now:
But after the November midterms, the attorney general might want to sneak a peek at job openings not in the Trump administration. The President yesterday told Bloomberg News in an interview, referring to Sessions, "I just would love to have him do a great job." It's clear Trump wants to be done with Sessions, but doing so before the elections in November would just be too big a mess -- and too risky a GOP proposition -- for him to accomplish it.

Meanwhile, at Aretha Franklin's Funeral:
In Detroit, Aretha Franklin is being laid to rest today. The Clintons are there. And so are Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande.

We Have to End This on a High Note:
THERESA MAY = ICON. Dance like no one is watching, except that everyone is watching. May went to Kenya (may I note, in her leopard-print shoes) and got down to some local music. And by "got down," I mean became the best meme of the week. Even Susan Rice had to weigh in
