What America is Talking About: Apple just became the first American public company to be worth $1 trillion, and the TSA is considering getting rid of passenger screening at more than 150 small- and medium-sized airports. From Russia With Love?: The stories out of this latest round of suspected Russia-connected Facebook pages keeps getting stranger. One Long Island woman said she received flowers and a megaphone from an account associated with the "Resisters" page for putting together a protest. And the page "Black Fist" paid personal trainers in states including New York and Florida to teach self-defense classes. The page described these classes as preparing attendees to "protect your rights" and "let them know black power matters." One martial arts instructor in Brooklyn shared a voicemail with CNN he received from a man connected with "Black Fist" who said his name was Taylor. State Dept. to Russia: Knock it Off: Following Facebook's announcement it's shut down political pages believed to be connected with Russia, State spox Heather Nauert was unequivocal: "We demand that Russia and all other malign actors immediately cease this reckless behavior." Manafort's Expensive Tastes and Wire Transfer Payment Methods: Witnesses in Paul Manafort's trial Wednesday said the former Trump campaign chairman spent millions of dollars on luxury goods paid for from international wire transfers. Among the purchases that were highlighted were a $15,000 jacket made from ostrich, a $9,500 ostrich vest, and a $18,500 python jacket, per court records. Below is one of the Manafort's jackets. Whoa, fashion. | | Obama's Back: The former president kicked off his involvement in the 2018 midterms with an 81-candidate endorsement announcement. Obama called his class of 2018 "as diverse, patriotic, and big-hearted as the America they're running to represent" and said they will "strengthen this country we love by restoring opportunity, repairing our alliances and standing in the world, and upholding our fundamental commitment to justice, fairness, responsibility, and the rule of law." You may recall earlier this year I wrote about Obama's quest to build a million new Obamas. This is his first real test. Ivanka Breaks With Her Father: In an interview with Axios at the Newseum this morning, Ivanka Trump said she doesn't believe the press is the enemy of the American people. She also said she's "vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children" and called it a "low point." As for her high point, Ivanka mentioned the commutation of Alice Marie Johnson's sentence. "I was crying," she said. "It was one of the most beautiful things." | | Credit: Jim Watson/Getty Images Pence in Hawaii: Vice President Mike Pence was in Honolulu yesterday, where he participated in a repatriation ceremony for 55 caskets believed to hold the remains of American service members killed in the Korean War. Pence said the return of the remains represented "tangible progress in our efforts to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula." Trump was effusive in his praise of Kim Jong Un, tweeting, "I am not at all surprised that you took this kind action. Also, thank you for your nice letter - l look forward to seeing you soon!" Reminder that North Korea's out here suspected of building more missiles... | | Credit: Ronen Zilberman/AFP/Getty Images A New FLOTUS Gown Goes on Display: You can now catch the Dolce & Gabbana dress Melania Trump wore to Sicily in May on display at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California.
