One protester, Annette Gaudino, told Pix 11 seven members of their group were arrested for their protest, and while they were being taken off the island, they learned another member had climbed the statue. | | Credit: Marcy Marimoto Letters From Inside a Detention Facility: The group Grassroots Leadership asked people being held in a facility in Taylor, Texas, to write letters either to their children they've been separated from, or about their experience being detained. One woman, who called the facility a dog pound, wrote that they were treated "so horribly, as though we were animals." Another wrote to her son, "every day, I pray to God that we'll be together again soon and that they will never again separate you from me because you are the most beautiful thing that God has given me." You can read more excerpts from the letters here. | | Credit: via Grassroots Leadership How Trump Spent his 4th: Trump golfed at his club outside D.C. for about four hours Wednesday, followed by a picnic for military families at the White House. Guests included EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, who CNN learned this week has a secret calendar to keep controversial meetings and calls private; Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who wrote an op-ed warning about drone attacks; and Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was DJTJ's date. But now he's back. Goldstone returned to Twitter yesterday (with all his previous tweets deleted), and said he has a book coming out in September. He tweeted this video with a flag filter flapping over a photo of him. | | Credit: @GoldstoneRob/Twitter Avenatti 2020?: Stormy Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti has been compared to Trump for his ability to get free press, and now he's being Trumpier than ever, floating a possible presidential campaign. Avenatti tweeted if Trump runs for re-election and there's "no other candidate in the race that has a REAL chance at beating him," he'll run. Aubrey O'Day's New Song: Aubrey O'Day, the former Danity Kane member who allegedly had an affair with Donald Trump Jr., is out with her first new song since the allegations went public. "White Hot Lies," by her pop duo Dumblonde, is a neo-disco track about trying to make a relationship a thing with a liar. It's a bop. | | Credit: Spotify Street Art Sighting: It's the middle of the summer, and one Indianapolis church is already breaking out the Christmas decorations. Christ Church Cathedral has put out a Nativity display of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus enclosed in a chain link fence topped with barbed wire. "That family is every family who are seeking safety for their children," church dean Steve Carlsen told CNN. The church also has a banner up that reads "#EveryFamilyIsHoly #CadaFamiliaEsSagrada." | | Credit: Christ Church Cathedral/Facebook If you spot political street art, tweet me @hunterschwarz, tag me on Instagram @hunterschwarz, or email me at coverlinehunter@cnn.com with your sighting so I can feature it in COVER/LINE. | | | | | |
