And all the biggest political news of the day.
| | | with Jessica Estepa | OnPolitics Today: Rolling in the deep | | Happy Monday, OP fam. If you and yours are celebrators of Easter or Passover, we hope you had a lovely holiday weekend. And if you aren't, then we hope you had a lovely regular weekend. | In the vein of President Trump, let's talk about "fake news" and DACA today. Keep up with the latest, subscribe here and let's go. | Is this irresponsible? | If you heard a speech about "fake news" while watching your local news in recent weeks, guess what: You are far from alone. Dozens of local TV stations that belong to the nation's largest broadcaster aired the promotional spots about the "troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country." | Democrats and media critics aren't pleased about the spots, saying that it's editorializing. | Jumping to the company's defense (which didn't help the company, in critics' opinions): President Trump. | "So funny to watch Fake News Networks ... criticize Sinclair Broadcasting for being biased," he tweeted. "Sinclair is far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke." | If you keep repeating something, does it become true? | President Trump spent the early hours of Monday morning railing about Mexico, free trade, immigration and Democrats, as he so often does. | "DACA is dead because the Democrats didn't care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon ... No longer works," Trump tweeted. "Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!" | Then, hours later at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll (where Vanessa Trump seemed pretty chummy with ex-to-be Donald Trump Jr.), he was asked during a coloring session about what's happening with the people who fall under DACA. | "They really let them down," he said. "They had this great opportunity. The Democrats have really let them down. It's a shame. And now people are taking advantage of DACA and that's a shame." | A reminder: Trump himself is the one who ended DACA last year. | Elsewhere in politics | | | MOST SHARED USA TODAY STORIES | | Continued after advertisement | | | | | | | FOLLOW US Thank you for subscribing to On Politics.
