In his opening remarks during yesterday's hearing with representatives from Facebook, Google and Twitter, Sen. Lindsey Graham called social media manipulation the "national security challenge of the 21st century."
Several ads purchased by Russia-connected Facebook pages were displayed during the hearing. This top one, from the "Heart of Texas" page, claimed Hillary Clinton had a 69% disapproval rate among veterans and that if she became president, "the American army should be withdrawn from Hillary's control according to the amendments to the Constitution." Obama Promotes Obamacare Enrollment Window:
Enrollment for health care through the Affordable Care Act begins today and runs through December 15. The advertising budget to inform Americans about signing up was slashed by 90% by the Trump administration, and President Trump has inaccurately claimed that Obamacare is dead ("You shouldn't even mention it anymore. It's gone," he said last month). That's lead to widespread confusion, as the Washington Post pointed out.

The former first couple kicked off their Obama Foundation Summit yesterday in Chicago and avoided commenting on politics or the news of the day. The ex-President called the summit a "hackathon" and made a surprise guest appearance while Michelle Obama and Prince Harry visited Hyde Park Academy, a school across from where the Obama Presidential Library will be built. What's with Don Jr. and his tweets trying to make simplified political points with candy? Yesterday he tweeted a photo of his daughter Chloe with Halloween candy, writing that he was going to take half her candy and give it away "to teach her about socialism." First off, I hate people taking away kids' Halloween candy. I hate when Jimmy Kimmel encourages parents to punk their kids and film it every year, and this tweet is like that but trying to make a political point. Secondly, you used the wrong "too." Don Jr. also faved a fake-news tweet claiming that people protesting right-wing media personality and "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory peddler Mike Cernovich in New York Monday held up a sign supporting pedophiles. That banner, however, was planted by trolls, according to Gothamist reporter Jake Offenhartz, who took and tweeted the photo. He wrote that "a group of counter demonstrators, disguised as protesters, briefly unveiled" the banner. Video from the demonstration shows protesters shooing the people holding the sign away after they realize what's written on it, but the photo was tweeted as authentic by some right-wingers. And DJTJ's fav remains.

Netflix and Media Rights Capital said in a joint statement Tuesday that production on the show has been halted "until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew." Production for season six began about two weeks ago in the Baltimore area.
