Blowing Up Stereotypes With a Chemistry Professor

At the University of Texas, Dr. Kate Biberdorf is breaking stereotypes and blowing stuff up—all in a good pair of heels. Through her theatrical and dynamic approach to teaching, Dr. Biberdorf is breaking the stigma of what a stereotypical scientist looks like, while reaching students that might otherwise be intimidated by chemistry.

For the past 34 years, Wim Kruiswijk has been traversing the coasts of Zandvoort, Netherlands, in search of messages-in-bottles that have washed ashore. So far, he's collected an unbelievable 1,200 letters, responding to as many as he can.
