OnPolitics Today: Deep in the heart of Texas
What a first lady wears to get on Air Force One isn't

It's Tuesday, OnPolitics friends, and we hope that if you're in Texas, you're staying safe. And that if you're en route to Texas, that you are wearing appropriate footwear. (For the record, we think it's fine, even sensible, to change your attire while en route.)

Trump takes on Texas

President Trump headed to the Lone Star State on Tuesday to survey the damage wreaked by Hurricane Harvey. And there, he had a Trumpian moment, in which he climbed on the bumper of a truck, waved a flag and told the people of Texas, "We love you. You are special. We are here to take care of you."

The president was there to make sure that the area was receiving the "full support and cooperation of the federal government." We appreciate the thought, but we have to point out: FEMA knows it's going to be a "long" and "frustrating" process.

Expect Tuesday's visit to be the first of a number of visits Trump makes to the area this week.

Trump takes on North Korea

Even as we face domestic disaster, don't forget that North Korea fired a ballistic missile over Japan this week. So, what does that mean for us? "All options are on the table," President Trump declared - but we're not quite sure what that actually will entail. Trump hasn't said exactly what he's considering. Instead of promising "fire and fury" as he has before, he simply said, prior to boarding a plane to Texas, "We'll see." Security experts said it's unlikely that a military option will be used, though.

Spicey meets the pope

Sean Spicer may not be an administration official anymore, but that doesn't mean he's off our radar. And it looks like he had a dream come true this week: He got to meet Pope Francis! That's kind of a big deal. Especially after he didn't get to meet the pope the last time he was in the Vatican.
