What else happened at G20, Donald Trump Jr. and the latest on the Senate health care bill
| | | with Jessica Estepa | OnPolitics Today: Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? | Happy Monday, OP readers! First, an apology: We appear to have run into some technical difficulties that prevented the weekly roundup from sending out. | | Second, we're not saying this makes anything official or anything, but someone has officially filed to create a committee to convince Dwayne Douglas Johnson to run for president in 2020. You may know him better by his wrestling name, the Rock, and we hope you are aware of his role in the Fast and the Furious series. | With that, here's what's on tap today: what else happened at G20. Donald Trump Jr. The latest on the Senate health care bill. | Let's do this. | The room where it happened | This year's G20 summit ended over the weekend, and while much happened - President Trump meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, his refusal to change his stance on the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement - here's the bit he was tweeting about on Monday morning: the fact that news organizations reported on daughter Ivanka taking his seat at the table when he stepped away for meetings. He says it's standard and that "Angela M" agrees. Chelsea Clinton isn't so sure. | Trump Jr. did what now? | So, what *exactly* is happening with the president's oldest son? Per reports, Donald Trump Jr. apparently arranged a meeting at Trump Tower between members of his father's inner circle and a Russian lawyer with Kremlin ties, in the middle of the campaign. And that meeting came about because he said he had dirt on Hillary Clinton. Now Congress says it's going to have to add this to the ever-growing list of investigations of whether Russia interfered with the election. As a reminder, Trump Jr. is currently running the Trump Organization with his brother, Eric. | And don't forget about health care | The Senate is back in business, and health care is on its collective mind. Republicans are aiming for a vote on its proposed overhaul next week. There's just one big problem with this plan, and it's the same one the GOP had before the July Fourth recess: They don't have the votes. "We're just trying to get a good picture of what the alternatives are, and hopefully next week we'll be prepared to take the bill up and vote on it," Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said. A new version of the bill may be released this week. Sort of related: senators received endangered species condoms because of this legislation. Yes, really. | Elsewhere in politics | | | MOST SHARED USA TODAY STORIES | | Continued after advertisement | | | | | | | | FOLLOW US Thank you for subscribing to On Politics. © 2017 USA TODAY, a division of Gannett Satellite Information Network, LLC. 7950 Jones Branch Drive, McLean, VA 22102 Unsubscribe from On Politics Why did I get this?
